Course Information
Finningley Amateur Radio Society has successfully ran courses in all three levels of the Amateur Radio Licence. One of the first clubs to run the M3 Foundation Course, we have now trained over 200 people between the ages of 7 and 73.
The tutors understand the syllabus and can put it across in such a way as to help the pupil remember.
The three levels of licence
The hobby has now a structured system of licensing. Newcomers must now pass exams in each level before progessing to the next.
Foundation licence
Callsign - M3xxx
Power - 10 watts
Limitations - Cannot operate on 10metres
Intermediate licence
Callsign - 2E0xxx
Power - 50 watts
Limitations - None
Advanced licence
Callsign - M0xxx
Power - 400 watts
Limitations - None
So, whether you are new to the hobby or just wanting to sit the next level of exam, Finningley Amateur Radio Society is here to help you achieve your goals.
We normally run our Foundation courses between March and October. Undertaken over the first two Saturdays of these months with the exam taking place on the third Saturday.
Intermediate and Advance courses can be arranged to suit. We are also willing to accept those that just want to sit the exam. The exam dates are pre-set by the governing body therefore please contact us for more information and dates or follow this link to the RSGB.
Cost
Like most things in life - it does not come free!
Club Foundation Course fee - £20
Foundation Exam fee to the RSGB - £20
Intermediate Exam fee to the RSGB - £25
Advanced Exam fee to the RSGB - £30
