25th August - Rossington Carnival
Members took part in the Rossington Carnival and a good day was had. Contacts were made with all the usual European countries and we made it across the pond into the USA, Russia and Japan.
Once again many new friends made.

Full house in the back of the van with Dave, Richard, Rod and John.

Saturday 19th July 2008 - Sheffield HAMFUN Day

Members of the club that attended this one had a very good day. We flew the flag for FARS and made some more friends. We actually sold some gear as well which was thanks to Dave and Kevin.

The van went along too and we had a few 'Guest Operators' who enjoyed the novelty.

Back at the club, Peter ran an M6 course and Cedric was busy filling in the trench.

Would you buy from this man? - you'd be suprised that the numbers that did! The Treasurer has a smile on his face...£££

14 June 2008 RAF Holmpton

Well Day 1 of the Museums on the Air Special Events Station at RAF Holmpton, and the Communications Vehicles first outing have done well.  Brian, and Kyle drove it over, with John and Sylvia in support in the camper.

I opened the Club as usual and managed to wrok John on HF, and a number of other Museum Stations on VHF.  I then managed to wrok Gary (and his dog!!) on VHF on my drive in, the VHF station having been hastily moved to his car due to rain

Once set up the van looks the part.

Conditions on the air have not been brilliant, but Brian did manage to work Italy.

There was a good Club turnout today, with a number, myself and lads included, enjoying the tour.

Lets hope the wx is kinder tonight for Brian, John, Sylvia and Kyle (especially Kyle as he's under canvas!!)

Listen out for the call on Sunday  - GB2VQJ and them our support.

Well done to all today

Saturday 7th June 2008 - Lincoln Short Wave Club
Brian had the pleasure of representing FARS today at the official opening of the Lincoln Short Wave Club's new shack. The shack was officially opened by The Rt Revd John Charles Saxbee, Bishop of Lincoln and in attendance were Colin Thomas, President of the RSGB and Dr. Ken Jones, President of RAOTA. Seen in the picture are Peter Kendall, Chairman of LSWC and Bishop John. Finningley wish the LSWC well and hope that they enjoy their new premises.

Saturday 31st May - RAF HOLMPTON RECCE
John, Kevin, Kyle and Brian headed across to RAF Holmpton today to carry out a final recce before setting up the Special Event station GB2VQJ for International Museums on the Air weekend - 14/15th June.
Brigadier James Fox once again proved a most accommodating host and the Society is looking forward to working with James and the Nuclear Bunker Museum. A visit to this site is highly recommended. We hope to see Society members visit the site during the weekend either to operate or just enjoy the excellent guided tour.

Tuesday 20th May
I meant to BLOG this earlier but you know what its like... John has been very busy of late and the van has now been painted a very striking shade of Blue. John has some bits of trim to finish off but this lady is very near to hitting the roads very soon indeed. She is taxed and mot'd and raring to go. We will be making a recce in the next week or so of RAF Holmpton in preperation for International Museums on the Air. Callsign being applied for. This will probably be the van's first outing and if you can think of some other events, places we can display her then come and talk to us. Sponsorship ideas would also be welcome.
Why not make that trip down to the club and get a good look for yourself?!
